Offshore Construction Vessels Major Upgrades

Viktor Lenac Shipyard

  • Cable Enterprise - (Cable Laying Barge, DP2)

   The moored cable lay barge was converted into self-propelled DP2 cable layer. Some of the key features of this major conversion included:

   New Aft Engine Room accommodating no. 2 diesel engine driven Voith VSP

   New Forward Engine Room housing no. 2 diesel electric generating sets powering two Wartsila Azimuth thrusters and two tunnel thrusters

   Fully equipped Bridge Control Room and additional accommodation facilities

   Installation of the new advanced cable laying equipment

   Consmar was employed as the main electrical subcontractor of Viktor Lenac Shipyard. For this project Consmar delivered turnkey electrical (including integration and testing) of the advanced power generation, propulsion, control and mission equipment systems. The total of 145km of electrical cabling was installed. The barge conversion work kept an average of 65 personnel engaged, peaking at 111 (76 Consmar and 35 subcontractors). Consmar site team was also managing other 100 subcontractors working on the barge.

   

The subcontract work was successfully completed and the high standard of electrical work completed by Consmar confirmed by the Owner’s Project Manager (please refer to Testimonials section)

   Main Works: Conversion of field installation vessel into crane and pipelay vessel

   Consmar was responsible for the complete installation of the Rolls Royce Azimuth thrusters. This project was completed in co-operation with other contractor

Main Works: Conversion of RO/RO ship into cable lay vessel

Consmar was employed on the installation of the new ship's DP system

Consmar performed numerous installation works onboard the CMS fleet of offshore construction vessels in the period 2014-2016. The vessels were upgraded for the BP Shah Denizhigh pressure (HP) gas-condensate field development located in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea, approximately 100 km south of Baku.

Working as subcontractor toPiaggio & Figli we were involved in all upgrade (repair, reactivation, replacement) Work required for the Azeri vessels to meet project needs in compliance with the relevant marine classification society andBP's Marine Operations Manual requirements.

This involved the complete re-wiring of electrical and instrumentation systems including associated cable infra-structure, cable installation works, terminations and panel works. The following system were installed, replaced and/or upgraded (among others): power distribution switchboards, VMS cabinets, new power generating plant, A&R winch and tensioners control system, mooring winch drive, transformer for welding system, MCC´s & automation for the pipe lay system, DEH cable handling & routing, piggyback firing line etc.
